I need suggestions for an "object" that I can use as a simple research topic for a college writing seminar

The point is the research process not the difficulty of the object or topic to be researched. Paper needs to be 10 pages long. Suggestions?

Are you talking a physical object? Use Fountains....in Italy, fountains were erected both as a way to get water to people but also to show the strength of the family who paid for it to be built...we see this still today in post modern society.
