What could be very good topics, for a research paper?!?

help me out!

What could be very good topics, for a research paper?!?
I did one on the effects of violent video games on kids/teens. I liked that topic because there's a lot of evidence in both directions (some say they are harmful, and some say they are helpful...and in a good research paper, you should present both sides of the argument anyway).
Reply:What do you teach? Do you want to work with any of your fellow teachers? If you teach English, you can team up with the history dept. and allow them to pick subjects while you grade form, they grade content, same with science. If you teach social science, try putting a flat statement on the board and have the class support or reject it--great arguments both ways. It doesn't have to be a popular , controversial topic, just one that is readily researchable. Do violent video games breed violence in players or do violent people choose violent games?
Reply:Give us a further hint, please!
Reply:Definitely do something a little different! As important as Ghandi, the evolution of rock music, and the change in the environment ARE, your teacher would probably appreciate something a little different. Teach him or her as well! Let me think here...I'm super bored so I'll just throw out some ideas. :)

~Dream analysis

~The discovery and history of something random (kitchen appliances, scissors, toilet paper, nail polish, guns, etc.)

~How animals (dogs, cats, horses, whatever) became domesticated

~The different kinds of paper and how they're manufactured

~Western versus Eastern medical practices

haha, this is fun! um...

~The history of your family's last name

~The history and social meanings of fairy tales

~Very early music (pre-Renaissance)

~Bridges, or some subset of architecture

~Whatever you're interested in!

-Medicine or health?

or -Religion?

Any other suggestions?, I can pick any topic.

Out of which of the following topics would be easiest to research for Engaland in Tudor and Stuart times?
religion would be the easiest. actually, there would probably be too much info.

i good topic would be the monarchies: enough info but not as generic
Reply:wars, henry the VIII
Reply:religion, you can probably write a full paper just on the spanish inquisition that was brought over to england during the Tudor period
Reply:Religion is a good start but to broad to reasearch about. If I were you I would choose medicine because it can be very interesting. You would be surprised about all of the strange ideas about medicine they had back then, especially with magic.

Can anyone possibly give me a good research topic?
1. Do humans learn nouns or verbs first when they are babies?

2. How many species of animals can comprehend the spoken or signed English language?

3. Does a thought come before a word or does the word come before the thought?

4. What job opportunities are available for writers?

5. Why do the Chinese want their citizens to speak English by the time the Olympics are conducted there?

6. Compare letters written home from Civil War soldiers and letters written home from soldiers today.
Reply:Oo, this ones fun. Reasearch the difference between a poets tale of Sir Arthur and the Round table and a Knights tale of Sir Arthur and the Round table. Compare these two pieces: "The Tale of Sir Gareth" by Sir Thomas Mallory and "Gareth and Lynette" by Lord Alfred Tennyson. You can probably find both stories on the internet, and it's really easy to do. Sir mallory was a knight and Lord Tennyson was a poet. It doesn't take too long to read, but make sure you understand Tennyson or you'll misinterpret it.

Reply:When I taught English, one research topic that always went over well was, "What was happening on the day you were born?" You can choose from a number of areas such as politics, world events, sports, fashion, etc., and there's usually plenty of research material available.

It's fun to see how the world has changed in a matter of a few short years. And since the topic is one that should be of interest to you, it's usually a lot of fun to write.

Good luck with your research paper!

Reply:I would research something relating to books turning into movies. Compare how the two are similar and different. Give your opinion on which one is better.
Reply:I'm sure your teacher can.
Reply:Yes 12/12/2006, today a boy, 17, in Springfield Pennsylvania walked into high school with an ak47 and blew holes in the ceiling and then himself.

Why does the father have an AK47 at home (and supposedly the kid got the key somehow). Are ak47's legal to have at home?

Do you really need that kind of firepower?

What are the real signs of depression? He told his girlfriend yesterday that he's going far, far away and not coming back.

What are the 2006/2007 signs of teen depression? Are they angry because they were put into daycares as children, and are latch-key kids because they come home from school and no adult is there?

Reply:Your research topic can be on why the FCC is letting television shows not have to pay for closed-captioning which would ultimately benefit the deaf and hard-of-hearing... This is very recent, so you should find a lot of information on this.
Reply:I suggest that a good research topic for a jr. english student would be the rise of fetal alcohol syndrome in Native American cultures. Good luck to you.
Reply:Ask yourself what you are interested in . It could be an issue you are concerned about , maybe something scientific like animals or weather or about a geographical place.

Ask your teacher about what your options are.

Reply:Gee there are so many but you need something that corresponds to the subject that you are doing which is English so a current topic like why moviestars are always cause drunk etc - is it because they all go out and do it or is it because the media follows them around constantly so they are bound to find something. Also world news like the war in Iraq is always a popular one but i find controversial issues more interesting than others like the bermuda triangle - Happy Studying :)

Can any one help me pick a research topic?

So for my English class i have to write a paper on anything i want to know more about, plus i need to interview someone that relates to this topic. The paper has to be a minimum of 3000 words. I thought about it and for some reason im having the hardest time picking a topic, can anyone give me some suggestions?

Can any one help me pick a research topic?
The Kennedy Assassination. There is more information on that you will know what to do with. You can interview anyone who was alive and remembers that day and the entire week following it. With all the conspiracy theories you will have plenty to make a 3000 word paper. It's interesting to read about it and watch the films.
Reply:I would recomend a global problem like, pollution, global warming, tree fiers, and then ask the others about what they think of the problem

hope ot helps!

miley cyrus
Reply:I you have to interview a person, you could do a project on running a business of your choice and interview the owner of that business.
Reply:How about the phenomenon of spontaneous human combustion? It's weird, wild stuff.

I wouldn't use wikipedia as a source in your paper though. Because, if I were your English teacher and you did, I would fail you.
Reply:Well if you like science you could research UFO's. Research why the government has some real info on it and won't share it with the general public.

It's a CONSPIRACY!!!!

Computer Engineering related research topic?

I need to write a research paper for my English class in college and we need to start picking out topics. The teacher asked that we pick a topic related to our majors (mine being computer engineering). I can't really think of anything myself so I'm looking for suggestions (something controversial or "just plain cool".) It could also be a science related topic. Thanks for any help.

Computer Engineering related research topic?
There was an article on robots and marital relationships I read recently. I thought that was provacative.
Reply:How about robotic assisted warfare? Programming weapons to recognize enemies, programming mechanized units to deploy themselves in the heat of battle etc.
