Topics for a 12 page college research paper?

I have a 12 page college research paper to do, but I need topics. I want it to be more unique, and not use the usual abortion, gays... topics. So anyone have any good unique topics? Keep in mind that I have to stretch the paper out to 12 pages and I have to agree or disagree(pick a side) on the topic. Thank you!

Computers - they need to be secure, but making them secure also makes them harder to use, so which is the better way to go?


How safe are social networking sites like myspace and should there be more monitoring?


What are the causes of the failure of the US educational system and how can it be fixed?


Government subsidies of large businesses - good for the economy or bad?


Should medicinal marijuana be legalized?


Are girls becoming sexualized at a very young age, and is that bad? (look up articles on prosti-tots, as they are sometimes called).


Should the minimum wage be raised?
Reply:If you want to do something science related, pick stem cell research. There is a LOT of information out there on that subject. If you want to do something political, why not choose Bush's plan to send more groups to Iraq. There is a ton of recent articles regarding the House and its stand against it. Or if you want to be really controversial, do the conflict between religion or evolution. You can either decide if there even IS a controversy and if so, what side to choose. Hope these ideas helped!
Reply:You could pick absolutely anything! If you wanted to do a paper on pasta, you probably could find 12 pages worth of information. Instead of recommending a specific topic, I think you should just do something that interests you. Obviously the top debatable issues are always going to be done, but even if you did one of them, you might find something new.





When in doubt, you can always do factory farms. Actually, I strongly recommend that you do. You wont believe what you find! It's a good topic with LOTS of info. Not only would you be teaching yourself something, but you would probably also be teaching the audience of your paper as well!!
