I need a topic for writing a research methods paper, got topics?

What is a good topic? I am a soc major. I am interested in health care, women and children, domestic abuse, and anything that effects/affects the african american population especially in reference to women.

What is interesting about the areas of interest you mentioned is that many of them (e.g. domestic abuse, health care for kids) can be difficult to research because of gaps in basic data and facts. One option that relates to research methods would be to identify and discuss how to apply rigorous thought and research to areas where the fundamental data has ambiguity or gaps. What are advantages or disadvantages of surveys? Advantages and disadvantages of in-depth case studies, etc.





The topic might give you some valuable perspective for potential careers. It also would be a potentially interesting lens to use since you could review research that is best practice for different methods on topics that interest you.
Reply:One of my undergraduate majors was sociology. I love the subject. Have you thought about doing some type of prison research? That is big in sociology. You could always work health care into the research, trends on abuse, recidivism, etc. Or, you might want to think about politics in general--using this very election to focus on these issues.
