What'd be a good research topic on The Grapes of Wrath?

I am a high school junior and is assigned to write a research paper on the Grapes of Wrath.

We are asked to choose one topic, it can be virtually anything on the book, like the theme, character development, foreshadowing, etc.

Now, there's just so many of them that I can pick one for sure.

So what do you think would be a good research topic on The Grapes of Wrath?

What'd be a good research topic on The Grapes of Wrath?
I would discuss the transformation of Tom Joad's character in the book. His growth from a solitary man to a man whose main concerns are for the good of mankind is a true metamorphosis.

You are right, there are many topics that would make terrific essays for this book. Steinbeck just had a way of putting so much into his writings that intrigues us.

Good luck!
Reply:compare and contrast father and son, Tom Joad and Pa Joad. Is son like father? or did he develop into something much different?
Reply:i would discuss the reason why the people had to leave [oklahoma] where they started from [sallisaw ] and the problems they had going to california and how they were treated there. they left because of the dust bowl as it was called.
